Dropbox Replay vs a video delivery platform: what's the difference?
Dropbox Replay is a review tool for collecting frame-accurate feedback on video during the edit.
Dropbox Replay is a review tool for collecting frame-accurate feedback on video during the edit. A video delivery platform is for handing the finished film to the client in a branded, private gallery with full-resolution downloads. They solve adjacent problems and are often used together.
Replay's strengths are timestamped comments, version comparison and integrations with editing software. Its limits as a delivery tool are the same as Dropbox itself: the client experience is Dropbox's interface, not your studio's, presentation is functional rather than cinematic, and the final handover still ends up as a folder link.
A delivery platform is the presentation layer: the client opens your branded gallery, streams instantly, downloads the untouched master, and you get notified. Light review, such as timecoded comments on a watermarked draft, is included where client work needs it.
DLVRD is the delivery side. Many teams review internally in tools like Replay and deliver to clients through DLVRD.
